Courtesy of a messenger from the West, I find myself with 2 copies of the unbelievable L'Oeuvre de Georges Méliès, a monograph (in French) devoted to the French filmmaker. This is the first comment I've ever left on a blog. I get nervous and maybe I'm a bit late. Méliès made a gilded early footprint in cinema. Love Méliès, love you Jezebel.
Méliès used his craft to create a fantasy world which the audience could escape to. I recently visited Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris where he is buried, this cemetery is a silent fantasy world in and of itself, the perfect escape for both the living and the dead. I suspect he is happy there.
I only remember how to say Je sui fatigue and nous sommes des jeunes femmes in French. Hope that counts.
