I realized the other night that I had never heard Herr Lagerfeld speak, so I watched him on my beloved CharlieRose.com (nb, I mean beloved CharlieRose.com, not Charlie Rose, as I love the ability to plumb the depths of his archives for my fascination of the moment, but Charlie Rose, eh.) Lagerfeld is witty and self-effacing and surprisingly down to earth and well aware that fashion reflects the world, and not vice versa.
