A costume of crystals and moth-ridden pullovers

My mother and brother flew to Puerto Rico this morning, and another brother is vacationing in Mexico. It's snowing in New York. I'll spend some time with the Russians this weekend and have a little time-travel holiday of my own.

So beautiful...you know I love this! By the way, I have been meaning to buy that book for ages, ever since I fell in love with the author's jewel box of an apartment (posted about it here, his is the first one).

Oh this book looks great! I love this period of Russian art. Have you seen the Ballet Russes film? The Abramtsevo colony is also really interesting.

Anzu is right, the Ballet Russes documentary definitely belongs on the netflix queue. I knew next to nothing about the Ballet, but when the blue lights descend on Swan Lake, it's impossible not to weep along with Irina, for the glory it. Great film, full of lovely exiles and fantastic stage designs :)

"Lovely exiles" is here to stay. I've seen the Ballet Russes documentary, but a 2nd viewing on the 21st century television is in order.

So pleased that you made that connection for me, L.T. I'd seen his apt. at (In)decorous Taste, but didn't connect the perfect dots.
